From the East to Lake Trasimeno:

It is from China, Mongolia, Afghanistan and Indian Kashmir that the best cashmere arrives, here on the shores of Lake Trasimeno. Here, in the heart of Umbria, where weaving is a craft tradition that has been perpetuated since the Middle Ages. Here, where the most precious of yarns has begun to be worked by skilled local artisans since the 19th century, when it was discovered and brought to Europe by English traders from the East India Company.
Here, where Fioroni has been operating since 1978, under the sign of a full understanding with the centuries-old know-how handed down from generation to generation and with the territory, drawing inspiration from its natural beauty, benefiting from the unique properties of the water of the Lake itself and respecting, with a deep sense of ethics, its ecosystem.
Continually striving for perfection
China, Mongolia and India are the main regions where Hircus goats are raised, and this is where we choose our cashmere. This precious raw material comes, precisely, from the undercoat of these unique goats. Beneath the coarser outer coat are exceptionally soft and fine fibers concentrated in a small area. For our knits, we use only this pure raw material. The cashmere fibers are harvested by combing or shearing the animal during the shedding season, which occurs in spring and lasts several weeks. This is followed by manual sorting to remove the coarser hair. In a second step, however, the fibers are washed to remove dirt, grease, and other impurities. This is followed by what is known as "degreening," which is the removal from the washed material of the "gyres," which include plant matter, dandruff, and what remains of the coarse outer hair layer. After that, the fibers are ready to be spun and finally woven or braided.

What distinguishes the cashmere used for our garments is the coloring process that takes place, even for those characterized by the darkest hues, always starting from a purely white raw material. A choice that testifies to the exclusive use of the absolute best fibers and that gives a unique richness and vividness to our sweaters. While being synonymous with the highest quality cashmere, Fioroni also uses exclusive super fine wools from New Zealand and spun by the best Italian and Scottish spinners.
Authentic handwork
Thirty artisans bring to life, guided by wisdom, passion and attention to every detail, hand-assembled fine knitwear garments featuring exclusively hand-sewn finishes. Each one must pass several quality control stages. This is how a Fioroni garment is created.

Cashmere Duvet
At Marc Allen we are particular fans of their proprietary "Duvet Cashmere."This finely spun, ultra light cashmere lasts the test of time where many other cashmere's do not. It's fine gauge, rich color stories, various model styles & color details make this a truly beautiful & versatile piece. We do our best to stock items in this both for Fall/Winter season & Spring. The demand for these sought after pieces is extremely high & although we increase our orders seasonally they do often sell out early.
